Ms. Jamie Spehar is thrilled to join the Southern California Youth Philharmonic as Director of Choral Activities. As a music teacher, she is passionate about creating a vibrant, musical environment where students are motivated to be creative, express themselves, and work collaboratively with both their teacher and peers. Her students not only grow in their vocal ability but also develop confidence and skills that will transfer into every aspect of their lives. Ms. Spehar greatly looks forward to working with your students!

During her undergraduate career, Ms. Spehar toured extensively as a vocalist with Vanguard University’s most honored and auditioned small ensemble, the Vanguard Singers, and University Band. She has performed for political, academic, and public audiences in the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, and throughout Western Europe. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Spehar was a collegiate chapter representative. She continues as a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for professional development and the immersion of music study as an integral part of school curriculum.

Ms. Spehar holds a Bachelor’s of Music (B.M.) degree in Music Education from Vanguard University of Southern California with special emphasis in Voice and Secondary Education. In addition, Ms. Spehar obtained a Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Teaching and Single Subject Credential in Music from Chapman University. While specializing in choral pedagogy, she has three years of teaching experience in both vocal and instrumental instruction for grades 4-12. Ms. Spehar is currently an Elementary Vocal Music teacher for Tustin Unified School District (TUSD).
