Crystal Stone

Director of Choral Studies/Conductor

Crystal Stone is a passionate music educator and vocalist excited to lead the new chapter of the Southern California Youth Philharmonic Choir. She is a proud cum laude graduate of Chapman University’s School of Music where she earned her bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Music Performance, both with vocal emphases.  After receiving her teaching credential, also from Chapman University, she became a high school choral director in San Diego. During her tenure, her ensembles consistently received superior ratings at festivals, toured the US from Hawaii to New York and even performed in Carnegie Hall.  She also established a middle school chorus program as well as the high school jazz choir, both of which are still thriving today.

In addition to her experience teaching music in public schools, Crystal has been a vocalist for over 20 years.  She grew up singing in the Pacific Chorale and Southern California Children’s Choruses; her involvement in these choirs truly sparked and cultivated her passion for a lifelong career in the music field.  As a church musician, Mrs. Stone has been a soloist, worship leader, soprano section leader, chancel choir director and music ministries coordinator.  Her choral career has allowed her to travel around the world, participate in unique events and perform in venues like the Sistine Chapel and the Hollywood Bowl.

Mrs. Stone’s music education philosophy includes providing a comprehensive music education through music performance while creating a supportive community where creative artistry and individual growth can take place.  Her ensembles can expect to perform a diverse set of high-quality literature including collegiate level repertoire, the classical “classics”, pop music, cultural music, musical theater, and jazz.

Crystal Stone is a native of Orange County. She currently resides with her husband, two sons, and their dog, Lola.  When she is not making music, Crystal is baking, drinking Starbucks, enjoying Seal Beach, practicing yoga, working out or volunteering on the Miss Garden Grove Organization’s Executive Board.
