HELLO & WELCOME

to all Orange County Junior Orchestra and Orange County Youth Symphony Junior Orchestra members from years past!  We have been busy this season contacting as many of you as possible and in return we have some wonderful updates on our alumni!  We are begining a new feature on oue website called...

DO YOU REMEMBER?....

The Smith Family:
Coutney Smith, 1995-1996 pianist, lives in California after brief stints in Paris and New York. Courtney ended up going to film school, working in features, moving into TV commercials and then scrapping it all to join the real estate boom. She is now serving as a real estate broker to primarily architectural clients, which gets her back to her artistic roots in a very convoluted way. Courney is engaged and living in Los Feliz. After ten years of being away from the piano, she finally started playing again;but not as much as she'd like!

Zac Smith
, bass player, went to Juilliard on a full ride and put his bass in the corner immediately after graduation. He owns two tech companies that operate out of New York City - where he lives with his wife Xiaoning (also a pianist who owns a music school in New Jersey).

Jacob Smith
, bassoon, majored in music and Russian lit at Carnegie Mellon (undergrad) on full scholarship and then to Temple (grad), where he met his oboist-wife Meghan. They live in Philly with their infant son, Rory. Jacob still plays with Philly Chamber and subs here and there while he serves as Director of Development for Marlboro Music.

David Taylor...He played trumpet in the Orange County Junior Youth Symphony from 1991-1992, his freshman year in high school. David holds two degrees in music (Northwestern University, Bachelor of Music 1999, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Master of Music 2003), and is currently a freelance performer, private trumpet instructor, and brass teacher at the Fairmont Private Schools in Orange County. WOW!

Vicki Leach...She played cello with the OCJO for three seasons; 2003-2006. Vicki attends Chapman University where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance. She is considering doing a double major with business as well and plans to go into arts management after college. Good luck, Vicki!
Keep checking back, more updates to follow...
